Title: | The rolling English road |
---|---|
Date: | Aug 2017 |
Original Size: | 1.4 m by 70cm |
Notes: | "Net curtain" designed to fit my grandson's bedroom window (mounted on a piece of linen for display). Made for the Midlands Textile Forum exhibition "The lie of the land" in Bishop's Castle, August/September 2017. This was originally not for sale, but my grandson has moved and no longer has a window to fit it. Or I could make something similar on commission to fit a window - the background only would be £250 or so, the foreground houses would add another £200-£250. Title from the GK Chesterton poem - the rolling English road - which describes how the rolling English drunkard made the rolling English road. I knew I wantd to do something based on how the road winds through the landscape... Picture has now been changed, with figures in the foreground - new title "You and I went down the road with ale mugs in our hands" |
